UNIT 2 TASK 3 (P7)

Test
Method
Expected Outcome
Actual Outcome
Action Required?
Software applications open and work as intended
Find a software application you would like to open (e.g. Microsoft Office Word) and double click the program to open it.
The program should open and show a blank word document.
I opened to program but the program wasn’t responding.
Troubleshoot the program to find out the solution to the program.
Default folder settings are correct
Open My Computer and go to Libraries. And click Document, Pictures, Music and Video.
If you click on these folders there should be default folders already in there for example if you open Documents there should be folders such as My Music and My Pictures.
I opened My Documents and all the default folders are there.
None needed.
Desktop shortcuts go to the right place
Right click a folder or document and choose the Send to option and you can choose to send it to the Desktop. If you would like to send it to another location choose the Create Shortcut option and choose where you would like to send the file or folder.
When you open the file location the shortcut for the file should be there.
I made a shortcut from a Word Document and sent it to My Desktop. When I opened My Desktop the file shortcut was there.
None needed.
The correct device drivers are installed
Open the control panel and open Hardware and Sound and then Device drivers. If there are problems with the devices there will be a yellow triangle with an exclamation point inside.
If you right-click click on the driver you should be able to troubleshoot or update the device. If there is not a yellow triangle there, then the device is up to date and doesn't have any problems.
I open Device Drivers and all drivers were up o date and the devices were functioning properly.
None needed.
The correct paper sizes are set for printing
If you are using a program for example Microsoft Office Word, you should click the 'File' button in the top left corner of the program and select print. Once you have done this select 'Properties' then 'Paper' and select what size paper you would like to print on to, once this is done you can go ahead and print.
The document you have printed should have printed on the setting you have chosen whether it is A4 or A3.
I changed my printer paper setting to A3 and my document was printed successfully on A3.
None needed.
Menu options work as intended

The correct date and time are set
If you are using Windows 7, you can got to the bottom right of the screen and click on the date and time, there should be a 'Change date and time' click on this and the will be a menu that will pop up enabling you to change the time or date.
The date or time should be set to what ever time you set it to be.
I changed my setting to the correct time and date, when I saved the changes the time and date were changed.
None needed.
