Unit 30 Task 4

This was my first logo idea.
I found an image and opened it in Adobe Illustrator. I highlighted the image and traced it using colour 16. I then expanded the image and edited the white background out of the image. After this was done I added text and grouped the two together and saved it as a JPEG image.

I made some changes to the colour of the 'Science Club'. This is my second design.

UNIT 2 M2

Suggest an alternative system to the one for p4.
Make direct comparisons whether that be cost or the quality of the system.
Conclude by making a decision on which system should be purchased and why.

Apple Macs can be a difficult operating system to get the hang of unless you use them frequently, if you are not comfortable with using an Apple Mac then a Windows PC maybe for you. As well as that you need to decide what make and model you would like to have and also how you want your computer to run. And most importantly how much money are you willing to pay for it.
For a Windows operating system I am recommending the HP Pavillion 500-319 Desktop PC with a 23xi Full HD 23" IPS LED Monitor.

System requirements- Windows 8
- Windows 7
- Windows Vista SP3 or Windows XP
- Mac OS X 10.5.8 or higher
- Intel®-processor

Box contents Wacom wireless kit

Conclusion

Cost: The monitor and the desktop come are a joint purchase and costs £699.99. The graphics tablet costs £299.99 and comes together for £1000 which is cheaper than the Apple product as that is £1,800.
Recommendation: My recommendation depends on what you are looking. If you are looking for a good quality PC but still able to run the basic programs and devices I would recommend the HP Pavillion PC.
However if you are looking for a PC that produces high quality work then I would recommend an Apple Mac.
It supports all software that you may want to install on your system and also has more than enough room in storage space to store your work as well as run all of the necessary programs.

CONS FOR P4 UNIT 2 (M1)

MONITOR - RESOLUTION ( SMALL MONITOR, YOU AREN'T GOING GET BIG ENOUGH COVERAGE TO DRAW WHEREAS A HIGH RESOLUTION HDMI MONITOR THE QUALITY IS CLEARER AND MUCH MORE SHARPER AND YOU GET BETTER COVERAGE WITH BIGGER SCREENS)
DIGITAL CAMERA - TYPE OF LENS, MEGAPIXELS ( WHEN CAPTURING THE PHOTOS, THE HIGHER THE MEGAPIXELS THE BETTER THE QUALITY THE IMAGE IS) SD AND MEMORY ( IF YOU DON'T HAVE A HIGH ENOUGH STORAGE YOU WILL HAVE TROUBLE TAKING AND STORING MORE PHOTOS THAN THE CAMERA CAN TAKE)
SCANNER - SIZE ( SOME SCANNERS COME IN A STANDARD FORM AND WILL ONLY SCAN A4 BUT IF YOU ARE WORKING WITH A3 OR LARGER YOU WILL NEED A BIGGER SCANNER) GLASS/ DUST/ SCRATCHES (WHEN THINGS ARE SCANNED EVERYTHING IS PICKED UP BY THE SCANNER, SO WHEN YOU ARE PLACING THE PAPER ON THE SCANNER YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE THERE ARE NO FINGERPRINTS OR DUST AS THE IMAGE WON'T BE AS CLEAR)
PRINTER -  SIZE ( IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PRINT ON A3 OR LARGER YOU WILL NEED A BIGGER MACHINE, THIS IS ALSO TRUE IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PRINT ON THICKER PAPER - 100GSM OR HIGHER)
PHOTOSHOP AND ILLUSTRATOR - PRICE (IF YOU ARE A GRAPHIC DESIGNER YOU WILL POSSIBLY NEED PROGRAMS LIKE THESE IN ORDER TO CREATE YOUR WORK, UNFORTUNATELY THEY ARE NOT FREE SO PAYING FOR THEM CAN BE EXPENSIVE) KNOWLEDGE ( THESE PROGRAMS HAVE A LOT OF FEATURES THAT GRAPHIC DESIGNERS CAN CHOOSE FROM AND LEARNING THEM ALL CAN TAKE A WHILE AND IN ORDER FOR YOU TO KNOW EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO TAKE A COURSE WHICH MAY TAKE A COUPLE OF YEARS)

UNIT 30 Task 2

The school also need to produce brochures and materials that can be used at option and parent's evenings, they also want to display graphical images on the  Kingswood website and on school vehicles.  You need to recommend the file types needed to display the images in the locations and justify the reasons for your choice.

Graphic Type
Describe How The Graphic Is Constructed And Why You Chose The Graphic Type?
How Will The Final File Be Saved?
Internet Graphic
JPEG
JPEG is a common format that is used in digital photography and it is also the most common format for storing and transferring images online.  So the images on the website would support this file.
JPEG
Van Sign Graphic
PDF/TIFF
In order to print graphics on to a vehicle you need to use vector graphics. PDF supports vector graphics and allows you to edit your image by adding patterns and shading. A PDF file will have a fixed resolution so it will help when looking at an image at close range as it would be just as clear if you were looking at the image from a distance. TIFF is also a good image format when it comes to high resolution images as it supports high colour-depth images as well as JPEG. TIFF is good for handling images and data in one file as well as holding compressed images. In making the graphics for a vehicle you will need to produce your images in Photoshop and save it as a TIFF file. Make your logos or illustration in Illustrator and save as a PDF. Finalise your work on InDesign once this is finished you can print in a PDF file.

Brochure
JPEG
Using JPEG images for images  on paper is also a common file to use as the images are clear and depending on  the size of the image you can manipulate it and the image will still remain the same with a small amount of quality lost.
